Code sprint

On Thursday, October 27 everybody is invited to join #DCBaltics Code sprint that will take place in Dēļu street 7d, Riga (Wunder Latvia office, +371 29848696). Starting to gather at 15:00, starting to sprint at 15:30. Refreshing drinks and snacks will be provided for the sprinters.
Code sprint will be led by Mikael Kundert from Wunder Finland. Event will be mentored in such a way that anyone can start contributing to Drupal with any type of skill set. There are many ways to contribute, therefore you don’t need to specifically be a coder. However, if you plan to write code, please make sure you have your environment ready for Drupal 8 development. See more information: https://www.drupal.org/dev-env
The sprint will be focused on Migrate that is one of the Drupal core strategic initiatives. We are going to work on novice issues, rerolls, writing automatic tests and updating issue summaries. We might also work on translating Drupal core to Latvian language.

What is a sprint?

A sprint is getting people together for a set amount of time and just working on some aspect of Drupal. Ideally, participants will learn from others as they go, and the goal is either to get some specific work done, mentor new contributors, or both. We choose to gather in a sprint format because:
  • It's fun - sometimes it is nice to have some camaraderie while working.
  • It's satisfying - the group can see the progress that was made at the end of the sprint.
  • It's a good way to get a focused task done (though some sprints are more general and some are more focused).
  • Participants can get their questions answered immediately instead of waiting for an answer in an issue queue.
  • Participants can learn from each other.
